If you listen to both commentaries, shane, in the director's commentary, mentions that the crew commentary mentions the sprite can,
but in the crew commentary he talks often of what he included in the director's commentary...

So he knew what was in both before each... hence, he has a time machine.


I'm kidding here, but I wonder if it's something subtle shane put in, or it's just an artifact of making the commentaries in pieces.

I did the director's commentary about a month before the crew commentary. I don't remember exactly what I said the first time around, but my intention was to talk more about writing, pre-production, and post-production and save anything having to do with the actual shoot for the crew commentary. I failed huge.

So, I imagine that I talked about the Sprite can in the director's commentary and then said something about how I was sure we would talk about it in the other commentary.
