LOS ANGELES, CA (January 17, 2005) – Everything you think you know about modern science is about to unravel in the provocative thriller Primer, an award-winning film available on DVD from New Line Home Entertainment on April 19, 2005. Primer, which electrified audiences at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize, is the stylish feature film debut from former engineer Shane Carruth. Carruth, also the writer and star, tells the engrossing story of two engineers who stumble upon a remarkable invention that changes their lives in unimaginable ways. DVD special features include commentary from the director/star and his cast and crew that explains how the phenomenon of this film – in idea and execution – came to fruition. Primer is available at a $27.95 SRP, with a pre-order due date of March 8.

SYNOPSIS
Two young engineers, Abe (David Sullivan) and Aaron (Shane Carruth), work by day for a large corporation while conducting extracurricular experiments on their own time in a garage. While tweaking their project, they accidentally discover that their invention has some highly unexpected capabilities – the ability to travel through time. Convinced that the device could put their side company on the map, both men use themselves as guinea pigs to test the machine’s capabilities. Taking advantage of this unique opportunity is the first challenge they face; dealing with the consequences is the next.

No, it's the 19th. It's always been the 19th.

Looks like someone added another 2 weeks to the release.

jf leterrier,

Region 1 DVDs supposedly only work in DVD players bought in the U.S. and Canada.

Amazon explains regions here

So I guess Europe has to wait for the region 2 dvd.

Hi Annie,

I knew these facts before asking you the question, Annie.

But it's not so hard to watch a zone 1 in Europe... Really easy in fact.
Lots of dvd players and and tv set are compatible with ntsc. (And I don't talk about computers).

If I guess what you said, the region 2 primer dvd will come. That was the meaning of my question.

Thanks.

jf leterrier.

Here's what I know:

There are plans to distribute the film in the following region 2 countries: Spain, UK, France, Japan. It will be in theaters around June in Spain and September in Japan. I'm sure DVD's will follow. I wish I knew more, but it's difficult to keep up with everything.

Thanks,

Shane

Got the PRIMER DVD this week even though I was really reluctant because I hate when studios double (or triple) dip with DVD releases. But from what I hear there wasn't much more to put on the disc.

At any rate, love the movie, still keeps me thinking and what you pulled of Shane is a real inspiration to indie filmmakers like myself!

Thanks!
